The city
Chemnitz, the “city of heads”, is the third largest city in Saxony, with over 800 years of turbulent history. Chemnitz is an industrial city with tradition, a sporting city with links to well-known names; a city in which modern mining was founded; a city of literature; modern and attractive, relaxing and green! Chemnitz is youthful and vibrant. Around 10,000 students study at the highly regarded Technical University, nearly ten percent of whom come from abroad. Chemnitz is open and hospitable, has everything a lively major city can offer and is graced by the charming and nearby Erzgebirge.
The school The language school is located in spacious and light rooms high above the vibrant city life of the newly restructured centre. You will be taught in modern classrooms by our friendly and highly motivated teachers, and during the break you have time for a quick visit to the weekly market or the Red Tower Gallery, both in the very heart of the city. The school is close to all public transport routes.
Culture and leisure
If you want to experience culture at its finest, Chemnitz offers infinite possibilities. The city’s art collection; the highly modern opera house with its many renowned performances; the Kaßberg, with the largest connected Art Nouveau quarter in Europe. An insider tip is also the Saxon cuisine, which you can savour in the many restaurants, bars and pubs, complemented by a chilled local beer. Chemnitz holds the record among Saxon cities when it comes to green oases. Popular activities are punting on the Castle Lake, visiting Chemnitz zoo, or simply spending the day at one of the city’s leisure pools. Walking and sightseeing are also highly recommended for the castles and palaces in and around Chemnitz or in the nearby Erzgebirge. In winter you may be tempted by the winter sports arenas near Chemnitz. In an hour you can be in Leipzig and Dresden, while to Prague it is just two hours. |
