The cities
In the middle of Germany’s green heartland lie Erfurt and Weimar – the classic couple. Erfurt, the capital of the federal state Thuringia, and its close neighbour Weimar represent typical Germany; romantic old towns, cosy gastronomy with appetising savoury specialities; a good infrastructure and long classical tradition. Both annually greet hundreds of thousands of visitors who find and photograph everything they are looking for. Their proximity to many other great sights make Erfurt and Weimar true treasures to be discovered on your journey, and from here it is not far to other locations on your language trip, regardless of whether you travel by rail or road.
University towns in the region are Erfurt, Weimar, Jena and Ilmenau.

The school
The F+U school is located in a lovely old building, right in the heart of the city of Erfurt. From here it is only 5 minutes’ walk to the station and medieval core of the city. All trams serve the building. During the lessons you are accommodated in modern classrooms and then have every opportunity to practice your new German skills, directly outside the building. It is also possible for you to compliment your German studies with the aid of computers, located in a room complete with open fireplace, or to visit the major libraries close by.

Culture and leisure
Action? No problem! Relaxation? Be our guest! An outstanding cultural journey awaits you when travelling through the forest of the Thuringia countryside and visiting the castles and palaces, such as Wartburg in Eisenach, Friedenstein Palace in Gotha, to name but two. In Weimar you can trace the footsteps of the great German poets and thinkers such as Goethe and Schiller. In Erfurt’s old town you will encounter unique historic buildings such as the Krämer Bridge and monumental ensemble of the Mariendom cathedral and Severie Church. A walk through the Thuringia forest or Hainich nature park will allow you to breathe deeply and experience first hand how unspoilt nature can exist in the midst of this cultural landscape.  However, if you feel you need a change from so much culture, the cities of Erfurt and Weimar can offer you light-hearted fun, too – from swimming or dancing to the cinema or a tour of the pubs – there is something for everyone.
